In the most recent development in the investigation into the rape and murder of 30-year-old Jisha in Perumbavoor, an alleged contract killer has been taken into custody.

According to a report in Malayala Manorama, the man – who has been accused of multiple crimes including murder – was spotted by witnesses in Perumbavoor on the day of Jisha’s murder. He is also alleged to have political connections.

Witness accounts state that he was spotted riding in an autorickshaw with one other person on the night of April 28 and that he had visited an engineering workshop in Kuruppampady.

The police, on Wednesday, launched a probe into the photographs of three unidentified men, retrieved from Jisha’s phone. According to the report, the photos are likely to be made public as none of Jisha’s family members or their neighbors were able to identity any of the three men. The three men are reportedly suspected to be migrant laborers.
