Jisha case a personal challenge, says newly appointed Kerala DGP

Written by : TNM Staff

Newly appointed state police chief Loknath Behera officially took charge on Wednesday at an event in Thiruvananthapuram.

Affirming that he has always resolved cases in his career, he termed the Jisha rape and murder case as a personal challenge. Reports quoted him as saying that he will ‘put his best foot forward’ to solve the case. Behera also promised to personally look into the case within two days.

Speaking to the media after officially taking charge, Behera said human rights activist Jomon Puthenpurackal’s statement would be recorded. Jomon had earlier written to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan alleging that a Congress leader was involved in the case.

Loknath Behera was appointed the state police chief on Tuesday, after TP Senkumar was removed from the post. Senkumar has publicly expressed his resentment over his removal.
