Written by : TNM Staff

As Kerala witnesses several protests over the Jisha rape and murder case, Malayalam actor and MP Suresh Gopi has said that 'Saudi model of punishment' should be implemented in rape cases.

Suresh Gopi, on Wednesday, visited the mother of Jisha, 30-year-old law student who was sexually assaulted and killed on April 28.

“Considering the heinous nature of the crime, there is nothing wrong in implementing Saudi-like punishments,” he was quoted as saying.

Pointing out the delay in punishing the culprits to be the reason for increase in such crimes, he added that a system in which the culprits are sentenced within 30 days should be put in place.

He further sought for the establishment of a special court to hear sexual abuse cases.
