Hellish fires await you: Malayalam actor harassed online for her clothes

Written by : TNM Staff

This is not the first time Malayalam actor-cum-anchor Ansiba Hassan has been targeted by the online moral police.

Religious vigilantes just cannot stomach the way Ansiba acts, dresses or poses for photographs. It is a different thing that they seem to lie in wait for the next batch of pictures that she posts of herself on her Facebook page. One cannot afford to lower one’s guard in such cases even for a moment….you see!

If last June she was abused for posing with a few Buddhist child-monks, or the one in a ‘short’ dress, this time around in November, it was her picture with a ‘bindi’ on her forehead, and another one draped in a sari that most evoked their ire.

Many of the comments ordered her to be faithful to the traditions laid down by Islam, with some warning her of the hellish fires that awaited her after death.

One among the deeply concerned of the lot suggested that she opt for a non-Muslim name, as she had committed the grave sin of exposing herself to the world, and not just to her husband alone.

Though there were many who did come forward in a show of support, the animosity of the ‘outraged’ more than drowned their feeble voices.
