Actor Manju Warrier and the rest of the cast and crew of Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s new film Kayattam, who were stranded in Himachal Pradesh for almost six days following heavy rains and landslides, have safely returned to Manali on Wednesday night. The Malayalam actor took to Facebook to inform her fans that they are “very happy and relieved” that the entire team is safe.

“Thanks to all the big hearts who swiftly and responsibly executed the rescue operations. And thanks to the care, concern, love and prayers from each one of you,” the actor said in her Facebook post on Thursday morning.

30 odd members of the cast and crew were stranded at the shooting location in Himachal Pradesh’s Chhatru, a small village on the way to Kaza, a popular tourist location in the Spiti Valley. They were left helpless after the access road collapsed following a landslide.

They had been shooting in Manali for almost three weeks prior to this.

When TNM got in touch with Madhu Warrier, Manju’s brother, he said that Manju had made an SOS call to him on Monday, saying that the team was experiencing a shortage of food as they are unable to move from the shooting location. "She had called me three weeks ago when they reached Manali and told me that she would be out of range. On Monday, she called me from a satellite phone and told me to get help,” Madhu had said.

According to Madhu, his sister was so cut off from what was happening that she did not know about the floods in Kerala and the fact that her mother’s house had been affected as well.
