Francis George-led faction quits KC (M) to join LDF as election countdown nears

In a major development in Kerala politics right before the assembly elections, a faction led by Francis George of the Kerala Congress (M) has decided to join the LDF.

Reportedly, the LDF had agreed to give a seat to the veteran leader.

This is likely to cost the UDF dearly in the which is already facing multiple corruption charges.

KC (M) had won 9 out of 15 seats it contested in last elections

The split was triggered after the Kerala Congress (M) leadership refused to give senior leader Francis George a seat to contest for in the forthcoming elections.

Some of the major members of the PJ Joseph faction will join LDF are Francis George, Dr KC Jospeh, and Anthony Raju.

The split was formally announced by Antony Raju in a press meet in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday.

This came after repeated attempts by KM Mani and the other leaders of the party to stop the fall out.

However, this is not the first time that the Kerala Congress (M) whose voter base lies majorly with the Christian community of Kottayam and Idukki districts is witnessing a fall out.

Recently, KC(B) left the UDF to join the LDF.
