Following Kollam tragedy, this Thrissur church used electric fireworks instead of dangerous chemicals

In the wake of Paravur temple tragedy in Kollam a few weeks ago, a church in Thrissur did away with the usual fireworks display that uses chemical substances, and introduced electric fireworks for the first time in the history of the church.

On requisite permissions not being granted by authorities to conduct firework display as part of annual church feast, St.Joseph church in Pavaratty conducted electric fireworks display instead.

Much to the delight of the people, electric fireworks produced visual treat without the loud noise otherwise produced during fireworks display.

Francis Elavuthingal, who has organized electric fireworks displays at events such as Dubai shopping festival, was the organizer of the firework display at the church. Reports quoted him as saying that though electric fireworks are expensive compared to the normal fireworks, they are safe and hazard-free.
