Written by : TNM Staff

Kerala High Court Judge, B Kemal Pasha, on Saturday said that fireworks and elephant parades are not a part of faith.

Coming down strongly on the Puttingal fire tragedy, he said that by allowing fireworks at the temple, people were inviting trouble upon themselves. The same applies to elephant parades as well, he added.

He said that only companies like matchstick-makers have permission to use chemicals like Potassium Chlorate, and questioned the fireworks contractors on their access to these chemicals.

The judge was speaking at the concluding session of the silver jubilee celebrations of Kochi Marthoma Educational Society.
