'Find solution for growing number of road accidents,’ Malayalam actor Jayasurya urges Pinarayi

Malayalam actor Jayasurya is one actor who regularly comments on a number of social issues, and on Tuesday, he had a message for Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Kerala’s roads.

The actor posted a video message on Facebook addressed to the CM, which he shot in his car soon after witnessing a motorcycle rider fall off his bike and injure himself.

Saying that he was unable to raise the issue of road safety when he recently met the CM, the actor adds that he was making the video message out of desperation.

“What we expect is to get basic amenities such as properly maintained roads. It is after hours of struggling in the traffic owing to poorly maintained roads that we get back home. Many are injured after falling into potholes on the road,” he said.

The video, however, did not come across as a citizen complaining about basic amenities, but rather as an affectionate reminder to the Chief Minister to 'set things right'.

The actor ended the 1-minute video saying, “If you are concerned for us, I request you to find a solution to this problem at the earliest.”

The actor had, in 2013, repaired a potholed road in his hometown Kochi by filling it with metal and had found himself at the receiving end of criticism from the Kochi corporation.
