Don't oppose Mohanlal for speaking against anti-nationals, says Kerala leader Muraleedharan

Former Kerala BJP President V Muraleedharan on Tuesday congratulated actor Mohanlal for his blog against the JNU protest.

Muraleedharan said the blog written by Mohanlal was touching.

He said, "Mohanlal is an individual who reacts to contemporary issues through blog. He is a person who gives value to freedom of expression. Through the blog, he criticises people who portray anti-nationals as activists of ‘freedom of expression’. Mohanlal reminds us that a citizen and the country should have a mother-child relationship. When Kerala leaders are scared to open their mouth, he said it loud. I give him a respectful salute. Mohanlal is an Indian citizen and a soldier. He should not be opposed for speaking against anti-nationals. I hope that Pinarayi Vijayan will make his followers understand that.”

Reflecting on the current crisis at JNU and the ongoing discourse on freedom, Malayalam film star Mohanlal had earlier written a blog titled ‘What's the point of us living when India is dying’.

Mohanlal said that as soldiers die for the nation, there can be nothing more shameful than citizens discussing what freedom and patriotism is.

The actor who has received the honorary rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Territorial Army of India, also questioned the 'hypocrisy' of an average citizen who sits within the comforts of his or her house and criticises the armed forces.
