Malayalam director Pradeep M Nair has alleged that a film scripted by writer Santhosh Echikkanam starring Vineeth Sreenivasan, has a similar storyline to the movie he planned with Prithviraj.

Nair’s movie was based on the story of Saji Thomas, a physically disabled Moovattupuzha native, who built an airplane of his own. When the story of Saji hit the headlines, Nair had taken the rights from him to make a movie based on his life. He had also named the movie “Vimanam” (aeroplane).

Later, Nair alleged that another movie directed by Srikant Murali, scripted by Santhosh Echikkanam and starring Vineeth in the lead role, also has a similar story.

As per reports, the Kerala film directors’ union, FEFKA, held a meeting but could not solve the issue. An Asianet News report says that Nair would move legally seeking a stay on Murali’s movie.

However, Santhosh Echikkanam has claimed that his movie’s script is not related to Saji Thomas’s story.
