In demand: Ennu Ninde Moideen and Premam to be remade in Tamil

Written by : TNM Staff

Apparently, Malayalam films are the most sought after, to be remade into other South Indian languages, especially Tamil and Telugu, because of their popular mass appeal.

If reports are to be believed, Mollywood’s two recent blockbusters ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ and ‘Premam’ will soon have their Tamil versions.

Ennu Ninte Moideen, directed by RS Vimal, portrays the real life love story of a Muslim youth Moideen and a Hindu woman Kanchanamala in 1960s.  In the film, Prithviraj played the role of Moideen, which will be reportedly played by Karthi in the Tamil version. The film has been received well by audiences.

There were reports that even in the Tamil remake of this film, Prithviraj would play the lead role, but later due to other commitments, he supposedly withdrew from the project.

Premam was another superhit Malayalam movie, which released in May 2015. The film starring Nivin Pauly in the lead role was scripted and directed by Alphonse Puthren. It depicts the life of the main protagonist George who goes through different phases of love, before finally settling down.

Earlier there were rumors that Tamil actor Dhanush owned the rights of Premam remake in Tamil. But the actor has denied the news. Though there are no updates on the Tamil remake of Premam, sources say that the movie will be made in Telugu starring Naga Chaitanya and Shruti Hassan.
