Hours after the Indian Armed Forces launched a mission dubbed ‘Operation Sindoor’, reportedly targeting nine terrorist sites in Pakistan, Aarti R Menon — daughter of Ramachandran, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack — expressed her support for the forces. The mission was carried out in retaliation for the recent Pahalgam terror attack that claimed several lives, including that of Aarti’s father.
Calling it a proud moment, Aarti said there could be no name more fitting than Operation Sindoor for the mission. “The terror attack left many women widowed, including my mother. Operation Sindoor is the apt name for this,” she told the media.
Similar to Aarti, family members of the two victims from West Bengal expressed their support and thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Operation. “I thank the Prime Minister for paying back Pakistan in its own coin. Now, it has to be ensured that events like the Pahalgam massacre are not repeated. There should not be another incident where terrorists kill anyone,” Sohini Adhikari, wife of Adhikari, who was killed in the incident, told the media.
Shobori Guha, wife of another victim, Samir Guha, from West Bengal said, “I cannot forget how the terrorists killed my husband at Pahalgam. We just went on a holiday. I thank the Prime Minister for initiating Operation Sindoor.”
Alongside bereaved families, several political leaders and film actors voiced strong support for India's action.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin extended his support, stating that Tamil Nadu stands with the Indian Army in the fight against terrorism. “With our Army, for our nation. Tamil Nadu stands resolute,” he wrote on X.
Telangana CM Revanth Reddy also backed the operation, calling it a proud moment for the country. “As an Indian citizen first, standing strongly with our armed forces. The strikes against terror factories in Pakistan & PoK make us proud. Let us make this a moment for national solidarity and unity, and all of us speak in one voice.”
In Karnataka, both CM Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar expressed support for the Indian Armed Forces. Referring to the forces behind the operation, Siddaramaiah stated, “Their heroic action reaffirms that India will never tolerate terror in any form.”
DK Shivakumar added on X, “Operation Sindoor is a befitting reply to the cowardly Pahalgam terror attack. We stand with the government, we stand with our security forces.”
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Member of Parliament (MP) Suresh Gopi responded, “We are punishing the terror of a country that always imposes harassment and trouble on our country and people.”
John Brittas, Rajya Sabha MP and parliamentary party leader of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), urged national unity in support of India’s right to respond to terror attacks. “These are precision strikes at terror camps so as not to escalate the situation. India has acted decisively to deter cross border terror. Congrats to our Armed Forces,” he wrote on X.
VD Satheesan, Leader of Opposition in Kerala, shared a post by Indian National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and echoed the sentiment of unity. “National unity and solidarity is the need of the hour and the Indian National Congress stands with our Armed Forces. “Our leaders have shown the path in the past, and National Interest is supreme for us,” he wrote.
