CPI(M) MLA files complaint against UDF minister alleging corruption, vigilance orders verification

The Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau has ordered a quick verification on a complaint by a CPI(M) MLA against Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Minister Anoop Jacob over alleged corruption.

The order in this regard had been issued by the Vigilance Director on the complaint filed by CPI-M MLA V Sivankutty accusing Jacob of indulging in corruption and irregularities in appointments in the state civil supplies corporation.

Sivankutty had alleged that the minister had indulged in corruption to a tune of Rs 36.5 crore.

Jacob is the latest UDF minister to come under the Vigilance probe over corruption charges.

A Vigilance court in Thrissur had ordered similar probes against Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, Power Minister Arayadan Muhammed, State Excise Minister K Babu, Cooperation Minister C N Balakrishnan and former Finance Minister K M Mani over various allegations including in the solar and bar bribery scams.
