CPI(M) local leader arrested for 'moral police' attack on journalist and husband

  Jisha Elizabeth, a journalist with Madhyamam daily and her husband John Aloor were attacked by a gang of moral police on Sunday. It now turns out that the group of men who threatened and attacked the couple were lead by a local CPI(M) leader. Two persons including a Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader has been arrested by Thiruvananthapuram Museum police for assaulting the couple.CPI(M) Jawahar Nagar branch Secretary P Vinod Kumar and his neighbor Ragendran were arrested on Tuesday.Police said that one more person had been involved in the attack and would be caught soon.On Sunday, Jisha and John were at the latter's office in Thiruvananthapuram when a group of men rang the office bell. Though the couple told them they were married, the gang were simply not convinced and abused them.Jisha had told media that since the police reached the spot immediately they were saved from a further vicious attack.
