A Circle Inspector in Kerala is missing: Cops begin probe

Written by : TNM Staff

The Circle Inspector of Ernakulam Central Police Station, VS Navas, has gone missing. The CI’s wife has filed a missing person complaint with the Thevara police station, and has said that he has been missing since early morning on Thursday. Kochi Police Commissioner IG Vijay Sakhare has launched a probe into the matter.

According to reports, CI Navas reached his home in the police quarters of Thevara early morning on Thursday after finishing work. Soon, he left home – around 5.30 am – and has been missing ever since. According to some reports, Navas was relieved from his official duties on Wednesday – a claim that has been denied by the Commissioner’s office. Other reports claim that he had an argument with a senior police official over a case on Wednesday, however the Commissioner’s office said they have no such information.

“Navas was on night duty on Wednesday. After work, by early morning, he came to the station and kept his official things there and left for home,” an official at the Commissioner Office in Kochi told TNM.

“We don’t know about any incidents of an argument with a senior officer. No such thing has been mentioned in the complaint filed by his wife either,” they added.

“An FIR has been registered and investigation is ongoing. The CI’s phone cannot be reached,” they said.

Commissioner Vijay Sakhare told media that the case was being looked into seriously.

CI Navas is a native of Kuthiathode in Alappuzha district. He has been living with his family in Thevara.
