Challenge accepted: Kerala BJP leader tells state Fin Min he's ready for demonetisation debate

On Monday, Kerala BJP leader K Surendran “accepted” on social media state Finance Minister Dr.Thomas Isaac’s “challenge” for an open debate on the merits of demonetisation.

Through a Facebook post, the BJP leader criticized Isaac for the latter’s consistent stand against demonetisation.

“Respected Finance Minister Thomas Isaac continues to argue that there is absolutely no merit in demonetisation. He had even recently called for a public debate over the issue. We are ready for the public debate. If you could let us know when and where to come...,” Surendran wrote.

The battle began when the Finance Minister said that demonetisation has not unearthed black money, but has only caused inconvenience to the public. On Sunday, Isaac asked in a post on Facebook:

"What was all the drama about declaring demonetisation overnight? To leaders including Surendran, ask the Sanghis who flood my Facebook posts with comments, to back off. I am ready to answer any of your queries. What Modi has done is not just foolishness, but also an unforgivable crime against citizens.”

Taking a dig at Isaac's comment, Surendran asked the Minister to visit the latter's page to gauge the behaviour of Left supporters: "The Minister who is so concerned about the comments on his page should at times visit this page. That will help you understand the level to which your party cadres can go.”
