CET death: Main accused, 21-year-old Baiju surrenders

The main accused in the CET tragedy, in which a 20-year-old girl student was mowed to death at the College of Engineering in Thiruvananthapuram by a jeep driven by students, was arrested on Sunday morning.
 
Baiju, 21, who drove the jeep, had reportedly fled to Kodaikanal after the incident, but later surrendered at the Sreekaryam police station, after police detained his family members.
 
Police said that Baiju will be brought to CET campus by Sunday afternoon for evidence collection.
 
The police added that the accused who had escaped to Kodaikanal in his friend’s motor cycle had surrendered to police after he came to know that police had taken his relatives into custody.
 
On Thursday morning Thasni Basheer, 20, a civil engineering student of CET died owing to head injuries she received.
