The News Minute | October 31, 2014| 3.45 pm ISTThe central government has turned down the Kerala government’s proposal seeking a CBI probe into the murder of TP Chandrasekharan the, Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP), which worked against the LDF during the previous election.The Kerala government had sought a CBI inquiry into the murders of RMP leader TP Chandrasekharan and BJP Yuva Morcha leader KT Jayakrishnan Master.According to a report in Malayala Manorama, the PMO had decided not to permit a CBI reinvestigation in the cases, as there was no new development or any special circumstance that warranted an investigation and the culprits had already been sentenced.Chandrasekharan, former CPI (M) leader who was expelled from the party and later joined RMP was murdered at Vallikkad near Vatakara in Kozhikode district on May 4, 2012.Jayakrishnan, who was a teacher and leader of the Yuva Morcha (BJYM), was murdered in front of his students in a classroom in 1999. The court had given death sentences to five convicted by the trial court. The High Court had upheld the verdict of the trial court. But in 2006, the Supreme Court acquitted four and commuted the death sentence of one person who was convicted.
