Bonhomie between LDF and KM Mani jolts UDF in Kerala

Written by : TNM Staff

Giving a jolt to the UDF, former Kerala UDF finance minister K M Mani on Wednesday expressed his happiness in the assembly when the LDF raised an argument in his favour that different yardsticks were used for K M Mani and K Babu in the bar bribery case.

Though Speaker denied permission to present the adjournment motion on Wednesday, as a protest to it the opposition leaders held a parallel assembly. CPI MLA VS Sunilkumar presented the motion where he stressed that different yardsticks were used for Mani and Babu, and that Home Minister had earlier justified the FIR registration against Mani and that rule not applicable for Babu now.

The Times of India reports that soon after the speaker adjourned the house, Mani walked to the opposition benches, shook hands with the leaders and thanked Sunilkumar for speaking out. He was reportedly visibly happy and was seen laughing aloud when Kodiyeri Balakrishnan was pointing out the “injustice“ meted out to him.
