Written by : TNM Staff

The escalating tension between RSS and CPI(M) reached a new low, with a bomb being hurled near the venue of a public meeting by CPI(M) State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan in Kannur.

The incident that happened in the evening left one member of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) injured.

Reacting to the attack, Kodiyeri said, "RSS' aim is to spread violence across state. Comrades should be careful, and make sure that you don't fall prey to their provocations. They threw a bomb at a function I attended. This was with the intention to spread violence.”

The incident took place at an inaugural function of slain party worker KP Jithesh's memorial. DYFI worker Sharathlal was injured at the attack.

“There have been continuous provocations. On Monday, the RSS tried to create chaos at Chief Minister Pinarayi’s event. Comrades should be careful while responding to such provocations and not react violently,” Kodiyeri said.

"Strict action will be taken against the attackers. This is an act of uncontrolled aggressiveness. I strongly condemn it. I will not forgive the culprits," said CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

Many top leaders of the CPI(M) have condemned the attack. “The intention of continuous attacks is to destroy the CPI(M) and destroy democracy. I urge the public to understand the RSS’ plans and come out to oppose it,” said MA Baby.
