Malayalam Actor and Kollam MLA Mukesh alleged that 'certain forces' were trying to create differences in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), aiming at political gains.

Mukesh was speaking at meeting in Vengara, conducted as part of election campaign at Vengara bye-polls on Saturday. He said that people with anti-left ideology were trying to destroy the biggest organisation of people working in the Malayalam film industry.

“They say that AMMA has been split. They try to create some issues in the organisation so that they can get in. They have huge agenda behind this", the MLA said in his speech.

Mukesh was responding to rumours that AMMA would split following statements by another MLA-cum-AMMA member Ganesh Kumar.

Mukesh told the media that Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan knew about this campaign to destroy AMMA and he had also warned them to cautious regarding this.

Recently when actor Dileep was released from jail after he got bail in actor abduction and assault case in Kochi, AMMA Vice President and Pathanapuram MLA Ganesh Kumar had come down heavily on the organisation.

Ganesh Kumar had told The News Minute that AMMA’s stand on Dileep issue had not been right and that the organisation did not support Dileep.

He also alleged that Mammoootty expelled Dileep from AMMA out of pressure from actor Prithviraj. These statements had lead to speculation that AMMA would split soon over Dileep issue.

Both the LDF MLAs, Ganesh and Mukesh, had shouted at the media that day saying they would protect Dileep, before his arrest.
