Tribal activist and NDA candidate CK Janu opined that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was indeed right in making the Kerala- Somalia comparison.

On Sunday, Modi had said that the infant mortality rate among Scheduled Tribes in Kerala is worse than that of Somalia and ended up being trolled online with #PoMoneModi trending on Twitter.

Even as Modi chooses to remain silent on the controversy, tribal activist CK Janu has come out in support of Modi’s statements.

Janu, who is contesting from Sulthan Bathery constituency in Wayanad was quoted as saying, “If one needs to see Kerala’s Somalia, they should come to Wayanad. If you want to witness poverty and starvation, I will take you to Adivasi colonies here.”

She further said that she hopes to speak for the tribal community she represents in the upcoming assembly elections and “ensure that their demands are met.”
