Actor Vincy Aloshious said that she would not pursue legal action against co-star Shine Tom Chacko, who was arrested earlier for alleged drug use. Speaking to the media on Tuesday, April 22, after appearing before the Internal Committee (IC) of the film in which she worked with Shine, Vincy said that it had never been her intention to press legal action.
Vincy also told reporters that her statements to the IC would now be handed over to the Kerala Film Chamber of Commerce. Further, she declined to comment on the IC proceedings, pointing out confidentiality.
Earlier on April 19, Shine appeared before the Ernakulam North police station, two days after he fled his hotel room during a narcotics raid in Kochi. According to reports, the actor will be questioned by a team headed by Kochi city police Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) C Jayakumar.
Shine fled the hotel on the intervening night of April 16 and 17 and had been missing since. He faces accusations of drug use and misbehaviour with Vincy on a film set.
The actor attempted to escape during a midnight search by the Kerala police’s District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF), a squad dedicated to anti-narcotics enforcement, on April 16. Shine reportedly fled the scene by jumping from the third floor to the second floor of the hotel. He then jumped into a swimming pool, from where he ran out onto the road, and reportedly flagged down a two-wheeler rider to escape.
Earlier, on April 15, Vincy posted a video on Instagram levelling allegations of drug use and inappropriate behaviour by a lead actor on a film set. Though she did not name the actor at the time, media reports said Vincy had filed a complaint with the Kerala Film Chamber and the film set’s IC against actor Shine Tom Chacko on April 16.
In her video, Vincy had alleged that Shine used drugs on set and made inappropriate remarks to her. “When we were rehearsing a scene, he was spitting some kind of white powder onto the table. It was very evident that he was using drugs on the film set.”
