Actor Prayaga Martin has decided to take legal action against media outlets for spreading baseless news about her. The controversy stems from the Alappuzha hybrid ganja case, which led to the arrest of alleged drug dealer Thasleema Sultan. Many media outlets reported that Thasleema confessed to supplying cannabis to several people in the film industry and claimed to have been in contact with actors including Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, and Prayaga Martin.

In a social media post, Prayaga expressed her anguish over the spread of false information. She said the unchecked circulation of such baseless claims reflected a lack of responsibility and credibility, and could no longer be tolerated.

“My name has been unfortunately linked to false and baseless allegations by some media outlets. It is extremely painful and difficult to witness the spread of false information. Equally concerning is the apparent decline of common courtesy and basic dignity as false and harmful narratives, entirely devoid of factual basis and downright defamatory, are allowed to circulate without accountability. Such actions and the failure or neglect to prevent them gravely undermine the credibility of the media and erode the fundamental trust placed in it,” she stated.

Prayaga also said she is grateful for the love, trust, and support shown by her well-wishers, friends, and family.

Thasleema Sultana, also known as Christina, and Firoz were arrested on April 1, with three kilograms of hybrid ganja worth Rs 3 crore. They were apprehended near a resort on Omanapuzha beach in Alappuzha.
