Actor Anoop Chandran's satire on KM Mani 'holding onto chair' becomes big hit

Written by : TNM

The News Minute | January 23, 2015 | 9.00 AM ISTEven after an FIR was lodged against Kerala’s Finance Minister K.M. Mani for a case of corruption, and in spite of many damaging statements by people who claimed to have bribed him, the minister has consistently maintained that he will not resign. The Chief Minister too is not pressing for Mani’s resignation. The coalition government has a slender majority and the Chief Minister is helpless, for if he demands the resignation of Mani, the 9 MLAs of Mani would withdraw support and the government would fall. Scams after scam have surfaced during the last two years of the United Democratic Front (UDF) government but not one resigned. Demands for resignation from people and media have fell on deaf ears and people are taking to political satire. Here is a video of stage comedian and cinema actor Anoop Chandran where he is seen as pleading Mani not to resign to “uphold the democracy” of the state.
