Close on the heels of the protests in Karnataka, cab drivers affiliated with online cab aggregators Uber and Ola in Kerala have decided to protest against the company for their “anti-employee” policies.

As many as 2000 cab drivers in the state will strike work on Monday, say reports.

The decision to hold the protest strike comes in the wake of the companies refusing to accept any of the 18 demands put forth by the driver’s union. Unifying of wage structures, limit vehicle request ratio to 1:20, recognition of drivers as employees, setting up of customer care service in Malayalam, are some of their demands.

Shajo Jose, general secretary of the All Kerala Online Taxi Driver's Association told The Times of India: "The strike is against the exploitation of drivers by the companies. Earlier, for every Rs 1,000 earned, we received an incentive of Rs 500. But now that has been reduced to Rs 100. The companies continue to register new vehicles and drivers every day and as a result we fail to get more trips. The supply is more than the demand".

Navas Ponnani, Joint secretary of the union told Deccan Chronicle that the union will intensify the protest if the companies continue to ignore their demands.
