The BJP’s fickle bromance seems to be on the brighter side. BJP state President BS Yeddyurappa and Leader of Opposition in Vidhana Parishad, KS Eshwarappa seem to have reconciled again.
The two leaders inaugurated the party’s OBC Morcha on Saturday and Eshwarappa was named as its head by none other than Yeddyurappa.
Just a few days back, on February 11, Eshwarappa had said that the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade would continue its operations and “prove its mettle to Yeddyurappa”.
The two leaders, however, seemed to have reconciled and were all praise for one another at the inauguration of the OBC Morcha.
“The OBC Morcha is being set up to help all the downtrodden members of the society. If this has to happen, then Yeddyurappa has to become the Chief Minister. We had certain differences but the national leaders sat us down and told us to stay united for the party’s cause and for it to come to power in the upcoming elections. Yeddyurappa and I have reconciled,” Eshwarappa said.
Yeddyurappa, on the other hand, praised Eshwarappa’s influence and his ability to gather the support of people. “He has ensured that adequate help is shelled out to the economically weaker sections of the society and has always worked for the upliftment of the Dalits and OBCs. He will be the right person to steer the party’s OBC Morcha,” Yeddyurappa said.
The Yeddyurappa-Eshwarappa quarrel and reconciliation is not new. Earlier in December, when the Sangolli Rayanna Brigade issue had driven the two leaders into a war of words, the party members had attempted to reconcile the duo.
Yeddyurappa had then told media persons that the differences had been settled and had likened the fight with Eshwarappa to that of a “married couple”.
In January, just a few weeks after the reconciliation was announced, Eshwarappa and his supporters had held a meeting in connection with the Rayanna Brigade and the feud began all over again.
It had also lasted only for a few days after Amit Shah had intervened and issued directions for the two leaders to follow.
