Woman "sold" into sex trade as minor re-united with family

The News Minute | October 9, 2014 | 2.05 pm ISTPolice have arrested three people on charges of having “sold” a young woman and forcing her into a sex racket, six years ago when she was 14.According reports by a Kannada news channel, the girl only managed to get away a few days ago. She was sent to Bangalore by her father’s elder brother on the pretext of finding her a job as a domestic help. She is now reunited with her parents.She was reportedly abused and sexually exploited by several men. She told the news channel that she had had six miscarriages. Davangere Superintendent of Police M B Boralingaiah said they have formed teams to arrest Tirumala, suspected to have sold the child. He said that the police were ready to provide protection to the girl and her family. The arrested so far are Anjanappa, Durgamma, and Madhu.
