Woman kidnapped outside her house, sexually assaulted in car

The News Minute | July 15, 2014 | 3.06 pm ISTA 22-year-old student was abducted from outside her home, taken to an isolated spot and sexually assaulted in Fraser Town, Bangalore on Friday night.According to Bangalore Mirror, the woman and spent some time with her friends on Friday evening and since it was late, her friend dissuaded her from taking an autorickshaw and insisted on dropping her home. After they reached her apartment building, they sat in the car for a few minutes, talking, they noticed that a car had driven past the building twice. The third time, six young men got out of the car and surrounded the car in which the woman and her friend were sitting. They asked her to come with them. When she tried to run towards the building, they caught her and put her and her friend into their car and assaulted her. They took the two friends to abandoned railway tracks near Cox Town and sexually assaulted the woman.Filing the complaint with the police was another ordeal. She alleged that the Pulakeshinagar police told her to keep sexual assault and kidnap out of the complaint, and only mention molestation. However, the police only registered an FIR a day after they had received the complaint.At present, the police have registered a case under Sections 341 (wrongful restraint), 384 (extortion), 34 (acts done with a common intention), 323 (hurt), 354 (use of force to outrage a woman’s modesty). Of all the sections, Section 384 carries the maximum sentence of three years.
