The News Minute | October 4, 2014 | 10.35 am ISTThe Karnataka government has a major headache in the form of a former chief ministerial convict lodged in a jail in Bangalore.According to a report published by India Today, the ruling Congress government wants to shift J Jayalalithaa to Tamil Nadu on account of the “volatile” situation since she was convicted and sentenced in the disproportionate assets case. The report quoted a senior Congress leader and minister in the Siddaramaiah government as saying: "This is a hyper sensitive case. Last week, advocates from Tamil Nadu and AIADMK workers staged several demonstrations and accused us (the Karnataka government) of hatching a conspiracy to delay the hearing of Jayalalithaa's bail petition. We have been unnecessarily facing the flak ever since she was sentenced to four-year imprisonment in the case. We do not want such a volatile situation to go on in the state. It will be better if Jayalalithaa is shifted to a jail in Tamil Nadu.”
