Whose office is it anyway? Congress, JD (S) workers get into argument, nearly come to blows

The News Minute | January 23, 2015 | 9.24 am ISTThe confusion over the office of the Janata Dal (Secular) in the Bengaluru has taken a new turn, with Congress and JD (S) workers nearly coming to blows over a territorial battle for space.On Thursday the city police had to intervene and disperse a crowd of Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) leaders and party workers as they argued over a certain vacant space behind the former JD (S) office in Anand Rao Circle in the city, and almost came to blows before police dispersed the two groups.As the office had to be handed over to the Congress, JD (S) chief H D Deve Gowda had begun to get the ground of the vacant land behind the office building levelled to build a temporary shed. But as the land belonged to the Ramalingeshwara Mutt of Haranahalli, the work had stopped.On Thursday noon, Congress workers had begun to put up flags of the party around a compound near the road. They jumped over the compound wall and began to shout slogans against the JD (S). Soon JD (S) leaders such as YSV Datta and others turned up along with their party workers and raised slogans against the Congress.For some time, as the atmosphere turned tense, vehicles plying on Race Course Road stopped and there was some confusion. It was at this juncture that the police intervened and dispersed the two groups.
