Ustad Amjad Ali Khan rues killings in name of religion

The News Minute | January 9, 2014 | 9.44 pm ISTSarod player Amjad Ali Khan on Thursday that people were killing each other in the name of religion. He had received an award at cultural festival Virasat organized by Alva’s Education Foundation in Moodbidri, around 50 km from Mangalore. Stating that despite getting education, “we are still killing people on account of religion”. Giving the example of his own family, which include his sons and Sarod players Ayaan and Amaan, he said that his family members felt as though they were “connected with every religion”.He added: “I hope, with your blessings and good wishes, we will continue to spread the message of peace through our music.”This is not the first time that Khan is participating in Virasat, which is an annual three-day cultural festival.
