A 50-year-old man identified as Alwyn Prakash Kunder, hailing from Kundapur in Udupi district, is suspected to have been murdered in Sharjah, while his wife and son are reportedly missing.
His brother, Anil Prashanth Kunder, believes the murder could have taken place after July 20, since Alwyn last contacted him over phone on that date.
Forensic findings released by the Sharjah Public Prosecution on Monday revealed that the man died from two stab wounds to the chest before his body was dismembered. The body was discovered on August 12 inside the trunk of his own sedan.
Speaking to presspersons after submitting a petition to Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar on September 22 seeking help in the case, Anil said Alwyn had been working for a private airliner as a senior manager at Sharjah Airport for the last 14 years.
He said Alwyn had last visited Kundapur in December 2025. His wife, Tina, a native of Udyavara in Udupi, works as a school teacher in Sharjah, while their son is studying in Class 10.
Family members in Kundapur grew suspicious when Alwyn began sending text messages instead of voice messages or phone calls after July 20. He did not respond to calls made by Anil.
Anil then contacted Alwyn's classmate, Manohar, who lives in Sharjah, and asked him to check on Alwyn. When Manohar visited the flat provided to Alwyn by his company, the watchman said Alwyn was in India.
However, when Anil contacted the company's HR department, a passport check indicated Alwyn was in Sharjah. Anil subsequently filed a missing person complaint with the company, as well as a complaint at Udupi Town police station.
