Twelve-year-old's presence of mind averts railway accident

The News Minute | March 16, 2015 | 1.33 pm ISTA 12-year-old boy’s presence of mind may have averted a railway accident in Davangere district. Walking near the railway tracks near DCM township in Davangere on Sunday morning, Siddesh noticed damage to the tracks and brought this to the attention of the villagers. But even as the adults pondered the situation, the Harihara-Dharwad Passenger train approached the area.Reacting to the situation, the boy stripped off his shirt and waved it to get the attention of the train driver, who stopped the train and then called the authorities. Railway authorities sent a team of repairmen to the spot and the train was sent on its way after a short delay.
