Tumkuru police adopt villages to ensure safety of women and children

The News Minute | December 1, 2014 | 16.27 pm ISTAfter the Mysuru police adopted schools, the Tumkuru police have decided to adopted villages to ensure safety of women, children and Dalits reported the New Indian Express.Starting December 1st, each police personnel will adopt a village for six months and look into issues concerning the village on a house-to-house basis and will resolve issues at the door-step. There are 38 police stations with 1,775 police personnel across the district and 2,524 revenue villages. Apart from this, there are about 2788 small hamlets, said CEO of Zilla Panchayat Govindaraju.Additional SP of Tumkuru district R Lakshmana said that officers who are above the ranks of police sub-inspector would adopt Dalit colonies to prevent atrocities against them.
