Creating history in the regional film industry "Chaali Polilu", a Tulu movie released on October 31, 2014, on Sunday completed its 500th day in a theatre in Mangaluru.

The comedy film, directed by Veerendra Shetty Kavoor and produced by Prakash Pandeshwar under the banner of Jaya Kirana films, is still running at the PVR cinema in the city.

Speaking to reporters on Saturday evening, Pandeshwar said the film had earlier completed 75 days in five theatres and 100 days in three theatres.

The celebration of 500th day in a theatre for a regional film is a record, he said.

Tulu actor Devdas Kapikad, who was also present, said the film had created magic in the Tulu film industry by enthusing the audience with entertaining elements.

PVR Cinema in-charge Deepak Gangadhar said "Chaali Polilu" was getting good response even on the 500th day with around 55 per cent occupancy. No other film had run for 500 days in Karnataka so far.
