The News Minute | December 13, 2014 | 08:55 am ISTThe Supreme Court on Friday stayed the 'made-snana' ritual which is performed at the Kukke Subramanya temple in Dakshina Kannada district, states a report by The New Indian Express. The Karnataka High Court had earlier allowed the made snana rituals, and the Supreme Court's order comes after a petitions was filed against the HC order by the Tribal Welfare Association. The bench dismissed a contention that made-snana is an age-old practice and that it should be allowed, states the report. The High Court had earlier directed for the ritual to be modified, where people performing the ritual roll over the food offered to the deity and not the food left over by Brahmins, adds the report.
