Exam paper leak woes continue to plague Karnataka. In the latest such instance, the second language English paper of the ongoing SSLC midterm exam was leaked in rural Bengaluru on Tuesday

Although there were rumours that the paper was being circulated on social media, the authorities did not act on it until the last moment.

However, when they finally compared the original paper to the online version, they found them to be the same. This was confirmed to reporters by D Shashikumar, General Secretary of Associated Management of Primary and Secondary schools in Karnataka.

“Leaks like this are very common. Associations do this because they make money from it. The department has instructed them not to set the papers, still they continue it. They should at least conduct it properly, ensuring that there is no room for leaks. This only corrupts students,” he added.   

The paper had been supplied by the Teachers’ Association of Bengaluru rural district.

“We will issue notice to schools, associations involved and to the Deputy Director concerned in this regard,” a senior official of the Department of Public Instruction told TNIE.

In August, the department had issued a circular that preparatory or mid-term question papers have to be set by the school teachers themselves.

In March 2017,  the PU-II Accountancy paper was allegedly leaked on WhatsApp.

In 2016, the Chemistry paper of the PU-II exam had to be conducted three times after the paper was leaked twice.

In the same year, two persons (including one teacher) were arrested in Mandya district for allegedly leaking the SSLC Hindi paper.
