In what can be a temporary relief for former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, the report of Kedambadi Jagannatha Shetty Commission of Inquiry into 2008 Haveri deaths, has given a clean chit to him by denying that the two people killed in the district were farmers.

However, the state cabinet has rejected the report that was released on Thursday and termed the violence as ‘politically motivated’, reported The Hindu.

Two people Siddalingappa Choori and Puttappa Honnatt, who were supposedly a part of the farmer’s protest against non-availability of fertilizers in June 2008, two weeks after the then chief minister Yeddyurappa assumed office as CM. They were killed in the police firing, reported Rediff.

The Congress was then the principal Opposition party in the State.

Shetty commission, which had submitted a report to the then Home Minister late V.C.Acharya in 2010, had then too given a clean chit to Yeddyurappa.

A cabinet meeting headed by CM has decided to place the report before the Assembly during the budget session on Friday.
