Resort politics: Cong shepherds K'taka independent MLAs into a Mumbai hotel ahead of RS polls

Written by : TNM Staff

The party has flown over 15 MLAs including 10 independents to the JW Marriot hotel in Juhu area in Mumbai.

Sources said that the MLAs were taken to JW Marriot by energy minister DK Shivakumar.

A senior Congress leader told The News Minute that the decision to take the MLAs to Mumbai was after they requested the party to do so. "There is a concerted effort to lure these MLAs with money. With too much horse-trading going on, the independents were getting tired of it. They asked us to shift them to a different location," the leader said.

Another source added that some JD(s) MLAs would also be joining the group in Mumbai.

This is being done following the sting operation by two national channels Times Now and India Today, which reported that Congress was trying to "buy" votes to field its third Rajya Sabha nominee.
