Protesting against Tamil Nadu’s stand on Cauvery water release, farmers disrupted a Tamil film’s screening in Mysuru on Tuesday.

The protest was organised by members of State Sugarcane Growers Association and other pro-Kannada forums.

The screening of the film ‘Bhayam Oru Payanam’ at Padma theatre in Agrahara, was reportedly stopped midway.

The protesters took down the posters and burnt them. They later shouted slogans against Tamil Nadu for demanding Cauvery water, reported Deccan Chronicle.

The police helped people watching the movie leave the theatre after the protesters arrived.

Newspapers reported that the protesters also tried to lay siege to CADA (Command Area Development Authority) office, but were stopped by the police.

TNIE reported that farmer leader Kurubur Shanthakumar accused the government, of ignoring the difficulties of the farmers as they have stopped releasing water for crops after August 30.
