Karnataka Information Technology and Biotechnology Minister Priyank Kharge on Wednesday, November 27, lauded the acquisition of Udupi-based Niveus Solutions by Japanese technology major NTT DATA, calling it a significant milestone for the state's emerging technology landscape.
Terming the deal a testament to Karnataka's expanding technological prowess, Kharge emphasised that the acquisition underscores the state government's "Beyond Bengaluru" initiative, which aims to foster technological innovation across smaller regions.
The strategic acquisition involves NTT DATA acquiring Niveus Solutions for an undisclosed amount, adding approximately 1,000 Google Cloud Platform (GCP) engineering professionals with specialised expertise in cloud modernisation, data engineering, and artificial intelligence.
"This is the second instance of a Japanese technology giant acquiring a company from Udupi, following Technopro's acquisition of Robosoft Tech in 2021," Kharge noted, highlighting the region's growing technological significance.
The minister pointed out that the deal reflects global confidence in Karnataka's tech talent and demonstrates that innovation is thriving not just in Bengaluru but across smaller tech clusters in the state.
NTT DATA's acquisition aims to meet global demand for transformative cloud solutions across multiple industries, positioning the company to leverage advanced cloud engineering capabilities.
