Police register case against "unknown" cop who assaulted daughter on a Bengaluru road

The News Minute | March 13, 2015 | 4.28 pm ISTBengaluru police have registered a suo moto case against the man who was beating his daughter over rumours that she had a relationship with a boy.On Thursday, two girls Nivedita and Archana had put up a Facebook post about an assault that they had witnessed while on their way to work. They described that a man was beating a young woman on the road and had even kicked her in the groin. They later discovered she was his daughter and that the parents were angry that she was rumoured to be having a relationship with someone.The pair had called the police who turned up and took the family to the Ulsoor police station, where the girl said that she did not want to file a complaint.Ulsoor police inspector M H Nagte said that a case had been registered on Friday against the father under Sections 323, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. Read: Cop beats up daughter in public in Bengaluru, two girls protestNagte added that the police personnel who questioned the family on Thursday did not know the name of the man, his wife or their daughther, and also did not have any contact details either.Tweet Follow @thenewsminute
