Police haul up sub-inspector who allegedly manhandled Kannada actor Chetan

The News Minute | March 5, 2015 | 12.48 pm ISTThe Bengaluru police have initiated a departmental inquiry into the conduct of the police officers who allegedly manhandled actor Chetan in January.Chetan had lodged a complaint against police officers who had allegedly assaulted him on January 25 at 1.30 am and kept him at the lock-up all night. In his complaint with the Cubbon Park police registered on January 29, Chetan had alleged that he had gone to pick up his friends from Church Street when the sub-inspector of the Cubbon Park police station Naveen Supekar who was rude to him. When Chetan protested, the SI allegedly began to slap him around, and then let him go. Later when he went to the police station to lodge a complaint, the ACP asked him to write a letter of apology, and when he protested, locked him up for the night. The inspector arrived in the morning and merely asked him to go home. More than a month after the incident took place, the Bengaluru police have written to the actor, informing him that the department has initiated a departmental inquiry into the incident under Section 6 of Karnataka State Police Rules. Tweet Follow @thenewsminute
