Not just Manyata, Bagmane and Accenture too: 10 more tax defaulters in Bengaluru

Days after BBMP officials seized furniture from Manyata Tech Park in Nagavara area of Bengaluru for non-payment of differential tax, it has launched a drive against tax defaulters in the city.

According to The Times of India report, BBMP has identified 10 tax defaulters in a special survey which has ascertained the total amount to Rs 231 cr.

In the survey conducted between February and April in six zones of the city, the revenue department has narrowed in on Leela Palace and Bagmane Tech Park in the East zone; the Accenture building and Golden Hills Square in the Bommmanahalli zone; Nitte Meenakshi College and Federal Mogul in Yelahanka; GE India in Whitefield and Chaitanya Properties in Mahadevapura; and Orion Mall Salarpuria in south Bengaluru.

A BBMP official was quoted as saying, “The owners have declared less than the actual built -up property in the Self-Assessment Scheme (SAS) online, and paid less tax. But when we did the survey of the total built-up area, we found huge gaps.”

The official further added that such surveys would be undertaken throughout the year. June 30 being the last day to pay up taxes of the current financial year, BBMP hopes to collect Rs 1500 Cr from property tax.
