A man from Mysuru was found hanging in his room in Saudi Arabia on Saturday. The 27-year-old man was working as a domestic help in Saudi and his family members are now struggling to bring his body back to Mysuru.

According to a report by The Times of India, the deceased Shabir’s employment agent has demanded Rs 3 lakh to send his body back to India.

Shabir’s family members have sought the intervention of Mysuru-Kodagu MP, Pratap Simha.

The only son of Wazir and Dilshad, Shabir and his family lived in Vidhyaramyapuram until nine months ago, when he went to work for a sheikh in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, with the help of a distant relative Khaleel.

Prior to his nine-month stint as domestic help, Shabir had worked as a mechanic in Saudi Arabia for 12 years and his current job was fetching him a salary of Rs 22,000 per month, Shabir’s relative, Aftab Ahmad Khan told TOI.

His family members suspect that Shabir’s death was a result of a fight between him and Khaleel. They alleged that a fight had broken out between the duo over an expensive phone Khaleel had purchased as few days before the incident.

Khaleel called Ahmad Khan late on Saturday night to inform him that Shabir had killed himself by hanging himself from the ceiling fan with a vest.

Shabir’s family were unable to reach him on Saturday as his phone was switched off. His friends in Saudi sent Ahmad Khan pictures of Shabir hanging in his room.

The family members suspect foul play as they allege that Shabir’s feet were touching the ground in the photographs sent by his friends. Khaleel called Ahmad Khan on Saturday night and allegedly demanded Rs 3 lakh to send said Shabir's body back to India.

The family members met Pratap Simha on Sunday and urged him to talk to the concerned authorities to bring Shabir's body home.

Deputy Commissioner D Randeep told TOI that he will be able to talk to officials in the Ministry of External Affairs only if the family members file an official request to bring Shabir’s body back to India.
