Addressing supporters during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally, Mysuru-Kodagu MP Pratap Simha called his MP position as “one of the greatest alms” that PM Modi gave him.
Strongly objecting to this, Congress spokesperson and legal adviser to the Karnataka government Brijesh Kalappa called it an insult to the voters.
"These are not just the words of an ace sycophant, but also an insult to the intelligent and cultured citizens of Mysuru-Kodagu since it is their vote which has catapulted him as MP,” said Kalappa.
“If he has anyone to thank, it is the people of Mysuru-Kodagu,” Kalappa added.
Attacking the Prime Minister for not stopping Simha while he was making these comments, Kalappa said, “The Hon'ble Prime Minister who claims to be a 'Pradhan Sevak' looked on imperiously while this MP uttered these crass and servile words intended to make Modiji appear like an emperor who distributed positions of power and pelf as alms to those who begged for them.”
“This is not just cheap, unrefined and undignified but indeed absolutely disgusting! Are these words palatable to the citizens of Mysuru-Kodagu who have voted him as MP?” he questioned.
Meanwhile, the Twitter war between the BJP and Congress and their respective leaders that began following Modi’s rally in Bengaluru continues.
Recently, BJP chief ministerial aspirant BS Yeddyurappa blamed CM Siddaramaiah for letting Mehul Choksi, the maternal uncle of Nirav Modi (prime accused in the Rs 11,000 crore Punjab National Bank fraud case) walk free in a different case.

Yeddyurappa’s remark was in response to CM Siddaramaiah blaming PM Modi for letting Nirav Modi escape under his watch. This, in turn, was in response to the PM’s speech where he attacked the ruling Congress for running a “10% commission government”. He also criticised the CM without naming him by referring him as “someone who left Mysuru”.
