A 25-year-old man from Karnataka’s Koppal district was arrested on Monday for posting a distorted picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Facebook. He was booked under Section 153 A at the Gangavathi Town Police Station.

Thipanna, Head Constable of Gangavathi Police Station (Town) told The News Minute that Manohar Gowda, a BJP activist residing in Ilayanagara Camp, noticed the Facebook post by a Mohammed Mehboob and filed a case against him at 10am. Mehboob was arrested at 12pm."

Mehboob had posted the photo on his Facebook profile on Sunday and it showed Modi touching the feet of Akbaruddin Owaisi, brother of AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi.

It is believed that the original picture of Modi with senior BJP leader L K Advani had been morphed, so that it looked like Modi was seeking the blessings of Owaisi.

Section 153A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) deals with promoting feelings of “disharmony and enmity” between different groups. The post was taken down following the arrest.
