Mobile phones, ganja seized during a raid in Mangaluru prison

Mobile phones, SIM cards, ganja and other items were seized from inmates of the district prison in Mangaluru during a raid conducted on Friday by top police officials.

Acting on a tip-off, a raid was conducted at the district prison here and 12 mobile phones, five batteries, three SIM cards, two chargers, a screwdriver and four packets of ganja weighing nearly 10 gm were seized, police said.

Nearly 150 police personnel, including ACPs, led by City Police Commissioner Chandra Sekhar conducted the raid, they said, adding canine squads were also pressed into action.

However, no weapons were found during the raid. Inmates caught possessing these items have been shifted to different cells, police said.
